Users may also overlook upcoming refills and realize they are running out too late. Without a centralized way to manage these details, maintaining a consistent medication routine becomes unnecessarily difficult.

It helps users manage medications, schedules, dosages, treatment durations, and refills through a clear and structured system, providing timely reminders and visibility into their ongoing treatment. By bringing these tasks together, Aven reduces the cognitive effort required to manage medication and helps users maintain a more consistent routine.

It began by exploring how people manage their medication routines and where existing solutions fall short. Through research into medication-management behaviours, the focus shifted from creating another reminder tool to understanding the complete journey of managing non-chronic medications over time. This revealed opportunities around medication schedules, treatment durations, dose and medicine tracking, and refills, and how these elements could work together rather than as separate tasks.

With these insights, Aven emerged as a medication companion that brings the entire routine into one structured system. The design focused on making medication information easier to understand at a glance while helping users track upcoming doses, ongoing treatments, course completion, and refills. Rather than requiring users to remember individual details, Aven provides the right information at the right point in their medication journey.

Throughout development, the focus remained on reducing cognitive effort without making the experience feel complicated. The interface, information hierarchy, and interactions were designed around how users manage medication in their daily lives, resulting in a companion that helps users understand, organize, and maintain their medication routine with greater clarity and consistency.
